Multicultural Studies
Mission Statement
Multicultural Studies at Butte College cultivates knowledge and respect for the range of human culture and diverse perspectives while developing skills in analysis, critical thinking and communication.
Program Description
The Multicultural Studies program provides students with diverse cultural perspectives in a global world. The discipline is an invaluable opportunity for students of all orientations to find a place and viewpoint that validates or expands their understanding of the world community.

This program directly meets the college strategic goal of enhancing a culture of inclusiveness and equity
Program Review (Optional)
- Per the recommendation of Program Review, Multicultural Studies has transformed to Multicultural and Gender Studies with an expanded curriculum. A multi-disciplinary team was assembled, with a goal of constructing a major fashioned after CSU Chico.
- New courses titled Arab American Studies and LGBTQ+ studies are now being developed.
- A Full time fauclty hire to guide and direct the program was also recommended.
