Student Services shares the College’s educational mission by promoting students’ success both in the classroom and in meeting their educational and career objectives. To accomplish this goal, Student Services’ programs provide essential and comprehensive services for student outreach, retention, and transition.
The Office of the Vice President for Student Services coordinates and provides direction to the College's Student Services programs.
Title IX Training and Consulting
Title IX funding is being used during the 2015-2016 academic year to train and keep Title IX administrators, Campus Police officers, and other key personnel up to date with respect to best practices and compliance requirements associated with Title IX and VAWA. The Office for the Vice President for Student Services is currently researching interactive and engaging Title IX and VAWA online trainings for all students and college personnel. This funding will be used to purchase an online training program once identified. Finally, Title IX funding was used to pay for a campus climate survey that was given in Fall 2015.
Student Learning Outcome (SLO): Students who come to the Vice President for Student Services Office will feel their concerns, issues, or problems are acknowledged and that appropriate support, action, or direction is provided.
The assessment tool that will be used to evaluate the above SLO is a "posttest" survey. After students have received a service provided by the Vice President for Student Services Office, they will be asked to complete an anonymous survey. Spring 2016 is the first term the survey will be offered to students to complete. This will establish our baseline data.
The Office of the Vice President for Student Services supports the college in meeting its student achievement standards by coordinating, providing direction, and supporting all Student Services Programs in order to increase student course completion, persistence, degree and certificate completion, and transfer rates to other institutions of higher education.
The Office of the Vice President for Student Services supports the Strategic Direction and Priorities of the College through its coordination and direction that is provided to the College's Student Services programs. The Vice President for Student Services Office is in charge of ensuring compliance with Title IX and VAWA. Our office helps to maintain a safe learning environment for all students and staff. Commencement is facilitated via this office.
Enhancing a Culture of Completion and Academic Achievement

Scholastic Honors - Each semester Butte College recognizes students who have demonstrated a high level of academic performance. The Vice President for Student Services Office sends letters and certificates to each student who meets this high level of performance each primary term.
Potential Graduates - Each year, at the beginning of February, the Vice President for Student Services Office sends email and text communication to students who have acquired 60 units at the College and may be eligible for an Associate Degree. The communication encourages students to meet with a counselor to have their transcripts evaluated and complete a graduation application, if appropriate, or to help them plan for completion of a degree.
Commencement - The Vice President for Student Services Office facilitates the annual College commencement. All communication to graduates and graduate candidates is communicated through this office.

The Vice President has weekly meetings with his Leadership Team to keep abreast of department issues, concerns, and needs.
The Vice President has monthly meetings with his Management Team to keep abreast of department issues, needs, improvements, new services, etc.

The Spring 2016 term is the first semester where the Vice President for Student Services Office will gather student feedback via an annonymous survey. The feedback will be reviewed to help our office improve its services.

The Vice President for Student Services Office continually looks for ways to communicate more efficiently and in a manner most preferred by students. Currently, select communication is being sent via email and text to students as opposed to mail - probation/dismissal and potential graduate notifications.

Based upon the data collected as a result of our SLO posttest survey at the conclusion of the Spring 2016 term (baseline year), we will evaluate the results and make changes as necessary to improve the services we provide to students in the Office of the Vice President for Student Services.

College Source Online Subscription | Annual CSO subscription cost has risen over the past two years. This increase will allow us to continue utilizing this valuable resource. The CSO subscription allows students, parents, advisors, faculty, and college administrators to look at college catalogs and profiles from institutions of higher education around the world. |
